Ronald Chong-Yik, MD, MPH obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in biomedical sciences at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Canada followed by a dual bachelor’s degree (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery) at the University of Queensland in Herston, Australia and a Master of Public Health degree, specializing in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He then completed an internal medicine internship and residency followed by a cardiovascular diseases fellowship at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana. Following this, he completed a cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Rochester, School of Medicine in Rochester, New York where he served as chief fellow. Dr. Chong-Yik is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases with the American Board of Internal Medicine and specializes in cardiac electrophysiology. He speaks fluent English, French, and Cantonese.
After initially studying electrical engineering in college, Dr. Chong-Yik realized that he wanted to pursue a career that would allow him to build relationships and make an impact on the lives of others. He truly enjoys helping his patients find health and happiness. In addition to his education, Dr. Chong-Yik has experience in the treatment and management of atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, typical and atypical flutters, ventricular tachycardia, and cardiac resynchronization therapy. He also has experience implanting cardiac devices, such as implantable loop monitors, pacemakers, defibrillators, subcutaneous ICDs, leadless pacemakers, watchman devices, and transvenous laser lead extractions.
When he is not taking care of patients, Dr. Chong-Yik enjoys golfing, traveling, and fine dining.
