Hearing Impaired Policy

Revere Health will provide a qualified interpreter for patients with hearing impairments if the request is made in a reasonable time frame (generally a few hours) prior to the appointment.

At the time of check-in, a written handout regarding the procedure for requesting interpreters will be available to patients who are known to be Deaf or who identify themselves as Deaf.

Patients who are Deaf and decide to proceed with an appointment without an interpreter need to “opt-out” in writing, and a record of this will be kept in the medical files. The opt-out is in effect on a “per appointment” basis and will expire on its own terms following the appointment.

Revere Health trains all supervisors and employees, including new hires, regarding the policy of providing interpreters and includes such training as part of our yearly or ongoing in-service training programs.
