50 Years of Family Medicine Care

Looking back on 50 years, Revere Health’s Wasatch Medical Center has grown tremendously from its humble beginnings practicing family medicine in a two-bedroom home. The family practice began in 1965 when three local doctors in Orem, Wayne A. Mineer, Carl D. Anderson and Dennis C. Hess joined together to serve the local community’s healthcare needs. Two years later, Dr. Hess moved to Arizona and Dr. David N. Peterson joined the practice. Throughout the process, they kept three commitments in mind:

1) God and Church

2) Family

3) Medicine

With two bedrooms to use as exam rooms, a kitchen as a laboratory and a living room as a patient waiting room, only two doctors could practice at one time. This quickly proved to be inadequate space for the growing practice. The group built a larger facility on the same lot.

“The clinic started out as a true family practice clinic,” says Dr. Scott Peterson, son of Wasatch Medical Center longtime partner, Dr. David Peterson. “We’ve tried to keep that feel in the clinic as much as we possibly could.”

Over the last half a century, Wasatch Medical Clinic has continued to show its dedication to providing comprehensive healthcare to the entire family, meeting a wide variety of healthcare needs from the common cold to pregnancy and everything in between.

Wasatch Medical Center’s unique, personal care has now seen four generations of the same families pass through its doors. “I think that’s the goal – to be able to know your patients personally,” Dr. Scott Peterson says about the clinic’s success. “You can always take care of them better if you know who they are and where they’re coming from.”

As a longtime family practice in the community, Wasatch Medical Clinic has seen some of the same patients for decades and has even delivered more babies than the total population of some cities in Utah.

“The clinic started out as a true family practice clinic,” says Dr. Scott Peterson, son of Wasatch Medical Center cofounder, Dr. David Peterson. “We’ve tried to keep that feel in the clinic as much as we possibly could.”

Doctors at Revere Health’s Wasatch Medical Clinic are devoted to providing personal care for their patients while maintaining the same passion they had when they first joined together to form their family practice.
