Angioplasty/Stent
Angioplasty with stent placement is a minimally invasive procedure used to open blocked or narrowed coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart. This procedure helps improve blood flow to the heart muscle, relieving symptoms like chest pain and reducing the risk of a heart attack. A stent, a small mesh tube, is placed inside the artery to keep it open after the angioplasty. At Revere Health, we offer expert angioplasty and stent services to help patients manage coronary artery disease and improve heart health.
How the Procedure Works
During angioplasty, a catheter with a small balloon is inserted into a blocked artery. The balloon is inflated to widen the artery and improve blood flow. Afterward, a stent is inserted to keep the artery open and prevent it from narrowing again.
When Is Angioplasty with Stent Recommended?
This procedure is commonly used for patients with:
Coronary Artery Disease (CAD): Blockages in the arteries supplying blood to the heart.
Heart Attack: To restore blood flow during or after a heart attack.
Angina (Chest Pain): Caused by reduced blood flow to the heart.
Benefits of Angioplasty and Stents
Improves Blood Flow: Reduces symptoms like chest pain and shortness of breath.
Minimally Invasive: Quick recovery with little downtime.
Prevents Future Blockages: Stents help keep the artery open long-term.
