Bio | Colby Barber, MD, studied Exercise Science at Brigham Young University as an undergraduate student and later went on to complete his medical degree and Orthopedic Surgery residency at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Barber completed an additional year of fellowship training in Sports Medicine with world-renowned Dr. James Andrews at the Andrews Institute for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Florida. He has served as the team physician for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (AA affiliate for the Miami Marlins), Auburn Tigers, Tuskegee Golden Tigers, Virginia Commonwealth University, and William & Mary. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and specializes in Sports Medicine. Dr. Barber specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder, hip, elbow, and knee, with a focus on joint preservation. He offers surgeries for rotator cuff tears, cartilage injuries, knee ligament/meniscal tears, and hip tears. He also performs fracture fixations, elbow arthroscopy, and many other routine procedures, such as hip, knee, and shoulder injections. For most of his procedures, patients can go home on the same day of the surgery. Dr. Barber was raised in Sandy, Utah. He is married and has four children. He has a passion for athletics and competed on a Division I Track and Field team where he threw the shot put and discus. His other hobbies include mountain biking, pickleball, scuba diving, and traveling with his family. |
