Young Father From Madagascar Receives Knee Replacement

PROVO, Utah – After decades suffering from the effects of a childhood knee injury, a father receives a knee replacement thanks to the generosity of some Utahns.

Greg and Jane Cloward met Nambinina “Nambine” Randrianirinaniarivo while serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Madagascar. After returning home, they started looking for options to help Nambine get knee replacement surgery so he would not have to live in pain. The Clowards found Brady Barker, a Revere Health orthopedic surgeon, who partnered with Zimmer Biomet and Timpanogos Hospital in Orem to perform the procedure.

Nambine was living with pain and damage that has progressed since he was a young child, but couldn’t find proper care in his home country. While he was originally nervous, his trip to Utah for the knee surgery was successful and he has since returned to Madagascar and to his family.
