Revere Health Welcomes Gastroenterologist Michael Burkholz, DO

Revere Health is pleased to welcome Michael Burkholz, DO, to its Provo Gastroenterology department. Dr. Burkholz is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine and brings extensive clinical experience in gastrointestinal care to Revere Health.

Dr. Burkholz earned a Bachelor of Science in business management with an emphasis in entrepreneurship from Brigham Young University. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona, and completed his internal medicine residency at Medical City Fort Worth in Texas. During his residency, he served as chief resident and was named Internal Medicine Resident of the Year.

Following residency, Dr. Burkholz completed a gastroenterology fellowship through Medical City Fort Worth and John Peter Smith Hospital, where his training included endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). His professional experience includes serving as a physician and partner in Colorado Springs as well as providing care at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center.

In addition to patient care, Dr. Burkholz has contributed to physician leadership, research, and quality improvement throughout his career. He served as a peer-review member for CommonSpirit and supervised overnight physicians at LifeCare Hospital. His research has included work related to liver disease, gastrointestinal procedures, and other complex medical conditions.

I’m excited to join Revere Health and continue caring for patients here in Utah,” said Dr. Burkholz. “I believe in taking the time to understand each patient’s concerns and working together to create a care plan that fits their individual needs. Building meaningful relationships with my patients is incredibly important to me, and I want to be an advocate they can trust throughout their healthcare journey.

Dr. Burkholz has also demonstrated a commitment to community service, volunteering at medical clinics serving patients in Texas and Arizona. He is fluent in Spanish, allowing him to communicate directly with Spanish-speaking patients and families.
